Born and raised in Alberta, I grew up with nature all around me. I find that there is nothing more majestic than a tall pine tree or humble as a wheat field blowing in the wind. I began my love for glass when my parents took my brothers, sister and myself to Klondike Days in Edmonton. There was a gentleman in what looked like a cage playing with fire. He was creating these beautiful little pianos, angels and various other ornaments that just sparkled like diamonds. I couldn't understand how he could make glass out of what looked like honey, I could have stayed there all day. I did however manage to purchase a little reindeer for my Grandmother.
It took a while before the fire was ignited beneath me. I started working with glass in 1998 and have never looked back. Today I work in my home studio in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta where I enjoy watching the deer pass through the back yard with the beautiful Canadian Rockies as a backdrop.
I have been very fortunate to have been able to take classes at the Red Deer College, who bring in some of the very best instructors from all over the world. I hope you enjoy my pieces as much as I enjoy creating them. Thank you for visiting my site. Betty Ann
